A registered legal entity
The Old Laitkorian Association (OLA) is a duly registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, Government of India. As a legal entity, OLA operates in full compliance with applicable laws, rules, and statutory obligations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuity.
A constitution that guides us
OLA is governed by a formally adopted Constitution that defines its objectives, structure, powers, and processes. This Constitution serves as the guiding framework for all activities, decisions, and governance mechanisms of the Association.
Democratic & accountable governance
The Association follows a democratic system of governance. Office bearers and members of the Executive Council are elected by the General Body in accordance with the Constitution. This ensures representation, accountability, and participation from across alumni batches.
Executive council
Old Laitkorians come from varied backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and life paths. We celebrate this diversity and foster an environment of mutual respect, dialogue, and openness — where every voice is valued.
Committees & delegated authority
To ensure effective functioning, the Executive Council may constitute standing and ad-hoc committees. These committees operate under defined charters and report to the EC, enabling focused action while maintaining centralized oversight.
Financial transparency & compliance
All financial affairs of the Association are conducted with transparency and prudence. Accounts are maintained as per statutory requirements, audited periodically, and presented to the General Body, ensuring responsible stewardship of funds.
Meetings & decision-making
The Association conducts General Body Meetings, Executive Council meetings, and committee meetings at prescribed intervals as outlined in the Constitution. Decisions are made through structured deliberation, quorum-based voting, and recorded resolutions.
Amendments & continuity
The Constitution of OLA is a living document. Amendments may be proposed and adopted by the General Body in accordance with prescribed procedures, ensuring relevance while preserving the Association’s founding principles.
Ethics & responsibility
All office bearers and committee members are expected to act in the best interests of the Association, avoiding conflicts of interest and upholding the highest ethical standards in conduct and decision-making.
